Every figure carries its source and date.

Staying in cash is a choice. Staying at 1% is a habit.

Nobody has to become an investor to stop losing money.

The rate you were given, not the rate you could have

A newer account can pay more than one you have held for years, and nobody rings to say so. Blooom shows what the same money earns elsewhere, in pounds a year.

Inflation eats cash that sits still

At 2.9% inflation, £9,900 at 1.00% buys less next year than it does today. Blooom checks the highest easy-access rate against inflation every month.

The protection is the same everywhere

The FSCS protects £120,000 per person at each banking licence, whether the bank is a name you know or not. A higher rate at a smaller bank carries the same protection, and Blooom names the licence behind every account you hold.

Questions, answered.

Is it worth moving for a small balance?

That is what it could earn, in pounds a year. Blooom says so when the gap is too small to bother with, and it says so when it is not.

Do I have to close my old account?

No. You can keep your bank account for bills and hold savings elsewhere.

Is my money protected at a bank I have not heard of?

The FSCS protects eligible deposits up to £120,000 per person, per banking licence, whoever the bank is. Blooom shows which licence each account is under.

Is this advice?

No. Blooom shows what your money earns against the market and where it could sit. Opening an account is your call, and the provider decides whether it accepts you.

Can I cancel Blooom+?

Any time. Your first 14 days are a full refund with no questions. After that, cancelling stops the next charge and you keep it to the end of the period you paid for.
